PAAA welcomes Paul Busby and Nicholas Counsell to the board, as Phil Millington steps down

14th March 2022

The PAAA is delighted to announce that Paul Busby of Viezu and Nicholas Counsell of Tarox have been appointed as Directors of the association.

Applications for this voluntary position were invited earlier this year after founding member Phill Millington of Milltek confirmed he would be standing down after five years of service. The new recruits join current directors Greg Kirby (Eibach), David Power (Powerflex), Jonathan Douglas (ITG) and Louis Tunmore (MAHA).

After a period of handover, Paul and Nick will take over many of the tasks performed by Phil. These include representation of the PAAA on the board of the ETO and other industry organisations; attending major trade shows such as SEMA, Autosport and Essen; carrying out research in order to keep up to date with new and proposed legislations: monitor the business landscape for any threats from manufacturers, governmental bodies and organisations that may impact the performance aftermarket industry.

Following his appointment, Paul said:

“Once I had heard of the PAAA I knew straight away it was something I wanted to be part of. The best of the industry coming together to support each other, sharing knowledge and taking on the conversations and issues of the day affecting our businesses, especially with vehicles, legislation and technology changing at its current rate.

“Working and pulling tother can only be a good thing – and quite simply it’s why I signed up. I’m therefore delighted to join the management team at this significant stage in the industry’s history.”

Nick is also pleased to be taking a more active role in the development of the association:

“I truly believe in the PAAA and its significance within the performance aftermarket. I would go as far to say I am passionate about the importance of the association.

“With 19 years working for the UK arm of European company it puts me in an advantageous position, as I have to be aware of what’s happening in UK and Europe. I’m eager to bring a focus to the organisation in order to achieve recognition, not only in our domestic market but also to a larger global audience. I’m excited for what 2022 will bring and look forward to catching up with PAAA members at meetings throughout the year and hope to introduce new members too.”

Board Chairman Greg Kirby is delighted that Paul and Nick have chosen to be part of the PAAA management team and looks forward to working with them as the association moves forward:

“Paul and Nick join the board at an exciting time, as the PAAA rises to the challenges the industry is likely to face in the next few years due to increasing levels of legislation, the effects of Britain and the EU establishing its own series of quality standards and the ever-increasing presence of electric vehicles.

“We extend a very warm welcome to them both as they become the newest board members to be appointed. Their experience in the industry, the way they approach business and the fresh ideas they’ll bring to the table will I’m sure, be of great benefit to the association as a whole.

“On behalf of all PAAA members I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Phil for everything he’s done for the association; from helping to set it up, establish relationships across Europe and for the support and guidance he has provided over the past five years.”
